About This Print: 
This photo was taken at the Swayambhunath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal. To reach the temple, you climb 365 stairs, a symbolic mirror of the 365 chances we get each year to begin again. It’s so easy to feel like you’ve failed, to slip into the belief that you’re “behind,” or that one hard day means you should give up completely. But each sunset is an opportunity to remind you that every new day is a fresh start, a chance to take small actions that chip away towards a much bigger goal. 

Nepal is said to be the birth place of Buddha, so its common to see this symbol of Buddha's eyes all over the place. Here, it's shown on the stupa; this symbol is known as 'the eyes of wisdom' or 'eyes of enlightenment.' The eyes are painted onto all four sides, representing Buddha's all-seeing, all-knowing awareness, but not in a fearful or judgmental way, instead as a symbol of deep compassion and presence. Beneath the eyes is a curly symbol that looks like a nose, which is the Nepalese number 1 symbolising unity and the oneness of all beings. The dot or third eye is a representation of the ability to see beyond the material world, a reminder to look inwards for wisdom not outward. Together, the whole symbol is a reminder that truth, wisdom, and compassion begin within.

This photo is meant to be more than decor; it’s a doorway, reminding you that you’re capable of far more than you imagine. My art is a soft spark, inviting curiosity, conversations, and the courage to reach for the life calling your name.
